The Helms Family moved to Michigan in 1991 following God’s call to Southgate Church.  Pastor Ron, as we affectionately call him, graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible college in 1985 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Pastoral Administration and Bible.  He also walked away from college with the hand of Rhonda, now his wife of 25 years.  They are committed to their marriage and this ministry at Southgate Free Will Baptist Church.

Pastor Ron and Rhonda have been blessed with daughters Lauren and Kristen and their two sons Brandon and Braden.  Their latest addition, Braden, was a pleasant SURPRISE from God and we all get our chance to love on him.

Pastor Ron is the son of a home missionary and missions is always on his mind.  he has served the Michigan State Association of Free Will Baptists as Chairman of the Missions Board, as well as currently serving as the Moderator of the State Association.

His passions outside of the Pastorate are his wife Rhonda, playing golf, and salmon fishing.  He also enjoys being with the people he pastors  in everyday life
